The Incident Locator application is designed to showcase some of
the core capabilities of the ArcGIS Platform through a simple, modern, Web 2.0 style
user interface. This application allows users to report roadway incidents using
point locations. These incidents are stored in the Geodatabase using the Feature
Server editing capabilities at ArcGIS 10. Users reporting roadway incidents can
also subscribe to updates via e-mail or twitter.
The web application can also be configured and deployed as an internal tool for
analysis and maintenance. The application can be used by government employees to
analyze incident statistics, close incidents and send updates.
This application can be used in compiled form with simple modifications to the configuration
file, or its source code can be used by application developers to provide additional
functionality.
